I like the Front cover- it is looking professional but could perhaps show some more codes and convetions. As for the the contents- the size of the font makes it look too basic and that there are a lack of things in the magazine- look how many pages are normally in a mag- perhaps have some regular features.
Double page is coming along- look at size of pull quotes.

Drew, good to see some images uploaded but i would upload some more and experiment with what images work with the rest of the info so text and image is well-integrated- draft the front cover and make sure the genre of music is clear through pose/mise-en-scene etc as it is not obvious at the moment.

Final chosen photos

i chose this photo for the contense page, as its a photo of the band GFB at a concert, there holding a guitar and a microphone. This photo fits in well with one of the features in the magazine that gives a review of there concert and new ablum. The fact that the instriment is in the photo gives a indication of the style of the music they do.

i chose this photo for the main full page image of the double page spread. i think this is effective there as the title of the interview is 'Breaking Though' the position of there arms and hands looks like there reaching out and breaking though, this fits in well with the overall theme of the double page spread. The photo also clearly shows the two band members faces, this will appeal to the fans of the fridays as you get a good look at there make up.

i have chosen this photo for the contense page as i think its a nice clear fresh looking photo of one of the band members in The fridays, you can see her long hair and its quite a girly photo, this will appeal to the younger audience who like the pop music culture. This photo also goes well with the overall house style of the maagzine as the tone and background colours are the same as the other Fridays photos.

ive chosen this photo for the front cover as i think its good becuase its got both girls in it and there both looking happy so i think it would be suitable for the front cover. The photo is portrait and fills the whole front cover with the photo, there is also space for the text boxes and pugs to go around the photo without taking up too much of the photograph.

im going to use this image on the double page spread, i think is effective as the hands are in focus and there faces are blured. i like the effect of this photo so i will use this in the double page spread as the main image. im not going to use this for the front cover but i didnt think it would be suitable as parts of it are out of focus and it wont look good close up

This is the final double page spread. The text has been made into the correct sizea and the page has been fitted to the correct size. I changed the pull quote to a larger blue text, before it was too small and the colours didnt match the blue fridays theme that has been used thoughout the magazine. I think this text looks much nicer and fits in better than the bright orange text that was there before. I have also added the page number to the bottom right hand corner of the page, i put it there as i think the reader would expect to see it there, the colour is the same orange colour and the dont that has been used thoughout the magazine this adds to the house style further.

i have now put all the text in the three collums, the interview is split up clearly with the interviewers text in bold black italics font and the Fridays reply in a plain font. This makes it very easy for the reader to read what the fridays are saying, and what the interviewer is saying.

i have now added the main fridays title, this is large and shows the reader this is The fridays interview that was mentioned on the front cover. The fridays is in the same font as the main title, and is in blue. The title on the front cover was also in blue this adds to the overall house style of the magazine. The text also has a Shadow and a glow just like the main title does. This shows the reader that the main colour associated with the fridays is blue.

I have now added the main image of the Fridays that takes up the whole page on the left side, this photo is very colourfull and adds to the colourful appearance of the whole magazine. i have also added the first collom of text underneath the drop cap, this shows where the other two colloms will be. the text used in the interview is a plain arial font, this font is easy to read and clear to the reader.

This is a image of the start of my contents page, the image hasn't been inserted i have changed the background to the same gradient blue and white background as the contents page, this helps show house style. i have added where i want the text to start by putting in a drop cap, the drop cap is blue, this matches the blue colour of the title featured in the magazine about the fridays. The logo along the top of the page says 'Fresh! exclusively speaks to the fridays' this introduces the band to the reader, the text is in the same colour as the main title and the Orange text this adds to the continuity of the magazine. I have also put a quote from the interview of the Fridays on the opposite page where the image will go, this will go over the top of the photo and will show they have said it.
Contents page
After looking at my finished contents page i realised that there wast enough features mentioned on the page, i didnt think a customer would get their moneys worth if they bought it. I decided to make the text smaller and add more features. The new features have the same font and colour as the rest of the magazine and this keeps up with the overall house style. I have also added the page number to the bottom right hand corner of the page, i kept the colour orange as it keeps with the house style of the magazine. I put it in the bottom left hand corner as i think the reader would look for it there first.

i added the second photo to the contents page to fill up the space where there was one large image before, this is a image of one of the members of the fridays. there are no other photos where there is only one of the fridays featured in it, this helps focus on that particular person and would appeal to fans of the fridays. This image also makes the contents page look much brigthter and more interesting than it looked before.
I decided to change the two GFB photos as i think they were too dark and there wasnt enough going on in them and i think it gave the magazine a rock orientated look to it. instead i changed the large photo to one photo that has the Fridays in it. this will help show what page the main feature is on as otherwise it wouldnt have been metioned. this makes the overall look of the page look much brighter and matches the rest of the magazine.
this is my first attempt at the contents page. I changed the background from white to a gradient blue and white, this itsnt too over powering and makes the page look more interesting than plain white. The three images i have chosen are all relevent to the GFB interview that is also featured in the magazine, it is good to do this as it also mentions some other features in the magazine other than The Fridays. in between both the photos, i added a text box that matches the same style font and colour to the main title, this adds to the house style of the magazine. The title at the top of the page says 'Whats fresh this week?' i think this is more interesting than it just saying 'contents page' i have kept the same orange font on this title aswell, this gives continuity. the word 'Fresh!' in the title is also the main logo of the magazine, this also adds to the overall hosue style of the magazine. The lists of the features of the magazine, are all in the same font as the main title and in the colour orange, this will make readers intantly know ther reading Fresh magazine as those colours are used thoughout. The page numbers are in a lager font to the description of whats on the page, this enables the reader to easily find what page they want to go to and whats on that page.
Front page
I decided to change the main Fridays title to blue as i think the font page looks too orange and the text looks like its all together. i changed it to blue as on the double page spread the main title on the page is Blue and this gives a continious style thoughout of mentions of the fridays. Changing the colours of the text would also appeal to both males and females as blue is liked by both male and females, this might then increase sales.
I then added a additional box of text advertising what else is featured in the magazine, its in a orange box and inside is the same text used in the fridays title. This box is helpfull to a potential customer as if they arent a fan of the fridays this will make them buy the magazine anyway as it shows there are other features in the magazine that may appeal to them. The 'plus' title in that box also matches the main title of the magazine adding to continuity. I have also added a barcode to the magazine, i have put it underneith the additional text box and in the bottom right hand corner, i put it here as i think that the reader would expect to see it there, on top of the bar code there is also a box that has the price and issue number of the magazine, this makes it easy to see as the bar code and price box are in the same place.
i have now put the main title of the fridays interview, this will show the customer what the main feature of the magazine is along with the background photo. the font is the same font as the main title and is orange, the colour orange fits in with the house style of the magazine as orange is the main colour used in the logos and thoughout the magazine. The large subtitle that says 'exclusive' matches the main title and is in the exact same style, this helps show continuity. ive also added a large pug in the top right hand corner that is also keeping within the house style of orange. The pug gives the customer more informtaion about what else is in the magazine, this will help a potential customer buy the magazine. The pug is advertising a competition to win tickets to see The Fridays in concert. This will appeal to fans of the fridays as they may want to go and see them in concert.
This is the font cover while under construction, the photo has been put in as the background and the text advertising reading festival has been put in at the bottom of the page with the same font and colour glow as the main cover title, this shows house style. The main logo and tag line has been put in at the top of the page, i decided to put it at the top of the page as i think most readers would expect it to be there and would look there first when they buy the magazine.

Contence page Layouts
Idea 1)

This is my first idea for a contence page there is both large space for the list of page numbers and other features in the magazine, this will enable the reader to easily identify the page numbers. There is also a large space for image(s) that relate to the page numbers. The main title will go across the top in a plain strip so its easily identified. the large photos would be effective as it will draw the reader to that perticular page.
Idea 2)

The second idea for the contence page has the same strip along the top for the main title of the magazine and the title 'Contence'. on this one there is two lare boxes that can be filled with images that will relate to the page numbers. the box for the list of the page numbers is smaller, this could be a good idea but it may be difficult to read as its more squashed together
Idea 3)

On this idea the main title box is much bigger, on this layout i could have the main title of the magazine aswell as a large colourfull bold title that says 'contence' the colours would be in keeping with the colours on the font colour showing a overall house style of the magazine. There are two large strips next to eachother where the page numbers will go, this shows clear spaced out page numbers and a little description about whats on that page. At the bottom of the page is room for up to three images that will relate to the page numbers featured.
Idea 4)

i have chosen to use this layout as i think this is the most effective, there is lots of large space for colourfull photos that relate to the page numbers. This will work best as the images will be in line with the page numbers making the page more effective. one half of the page will be split into the lists of page numbers and the other dedecated to photos. the main title stays at the top as i think readers will expect to see the title there and it will be confusing if the title isnt where they would expect it to be.
